I Started a Journal - How I Journal a Little Differently
Journaling is a hot topic right now especially with the new bullet journal style being all the rage right now. There are countless articles and research studies stating time and time again that journaling is good for the mind and soul. It helps with self-reflection and working through complex emotions and events among other benefits. Now if you have the time to do all that fancy-pants bullet journaling, more power to you sis, but I do not have that kind of time or energy for that. I also did not want to go back to the cringey days of writing down every embarrassing thought or feeling I was having, so I’ve kind of created my own method and template.
I am very busy and also a little lazy when it comes to certain things especially if I am not seeing the immediate benefit. I have faults too and I’m not afraid to admit it. As a result of this fault though, I start a lot of things and don’t continue them, which can sometimes be a good thing if it’s a waste of my time, but not when something needs time before you start to reap the benefits. So for me, it helps if the task is quick, easy, and painless. My journaling takes typically 5-10 minutes - 30 minutes if I am struggling to articulate how I’m feeling or if I’m going through something. It’s so quick and easy to do that even I have been able to keep up the habit.
My Journal Template
How am I feeling?
What did I do today?
How were my eating habits?
Was I active today?
Three things that I am thankful for…
One thing that made me happy today…
There you have it, my lazy and/or busy girl style of journaling that I have implemented recently. I have found this to be an easy way for me to stick with journaling, but also a great way to easily look back and see how I was feeling over a course of time, what I was doing, how I was eating, my activity levels, etc. I think it will be fun to look back on this year through my journaling and blog of course!
Do you journal? Do you have a process or just free-write? What’s stopped you or held you back from journaling? I’d love to hear about your thoughts and experiences regarding journaling down below!
