10 Things I've Learned in Quarantine So Far

10 Things I've Learned in Quarantine So Far

Greetings fellow humans, so we really just out here 6 months into a pandemic?! Still?! Can we all just collectively agree to follow the guidelines, so we can get out of this mess ASAP? K, thanks.

As you can tell from my absence for the last… seven or eight months (yikes, I know) that even with all this “free time” during these unprecedented times it doesn’t mean you’d actually do the things you said you’d do if you had more free time. Calling myself out on that one lol. Guys, I don’t know about you, but I could really go for some precedented times at this point…

On a serious note though, we are all going through a collective trauma and some people are handling this time with increased productivity while some of us are really just trying to survive as best they can. There’s no shame in whichever camp you’re in.

At this rate, it’s looking like we are gonna be stuck in this hot mess for a while, so I thought it might be fun to share with you, dear reader, the ten things that I’ve learned about myself and other humans during the great COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.

  1. I’m really good at being alone

Like really good, almost too good. I can go days at a time without leaving my house. Which has been helpful during this time, but when living alone, without management it can become unhealthy and I can become a hermit. Luckily I have amazing friends who check on me and make sure I’m still getting out of the house. You know who you are and you are the real ones!

  2. I absolutely LOVE working from home

Again, I cannot stress this enough, I love being alone. I get so much more work done from home. I’ve definitely had to work on my routine and processes, but I think I finally have it down. Pants being optional is an added bonus!

  3. Don’t settle for “good enough for now” when it comes to your home decor or furnishings

Now that we are all spending so much time at home, curating our space to make us feel happy and relaxed while at home is so important. It doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. You just gotta get creative and know what your style is. I might share with you guys what changes I made to my space during quarantine!

  4. Quarantine and a pandemic have been just another stressor in life.

This though! For those that are dating, pay attention to how people react right now. You will be able to learn a lot about how that person thinks and feels, and also how they will handle any kind of stress in the future.

  5. I can come up with creative ways to entertain myself and others despite being in a pandemic

I rediscovered my love for board games and strategy games. Homemade or even a takeout picnic is a low key super romantic date night. FaceTime dance parties hit different… There’s so many ways to keep yourself entertained if you just get a little creative and possibly even old school (the horror)!

  6. It’s too dang hot for these masks, but I’m still wearing them don’t come for me

The south in the summer is no joke! I’m not against masks, just making a bit of light humor here.

  7. “The Quaranten” is a real thing - if you know then you know

Whew, someone come take these snacks out of my hand. I also never thought I would say I miss the gym, but alas, here we are! But I hear that NC is allowing gyms to open at 30% now and I am HYPE. I miss weightlifting.

  8. I really didn’t have that many hobbies that didn’t involve me spending money.

Sad but true. My hobbies included me going out with friends to eat or drink, online shopping, travel, etc. All of which filled my time, but not in the best way for my wallet. Quarantine has somewhat forced me to find other hobbies that keep me at home and somewhat from spending money (hobbies still cost at least a little something). I’m dying to know what hobbies you’ve picked up during these wild times since it’s obvious this will continue through the rest of the year. Y’all winter is in fact coming.

  9. We have nothing but time, spend it wisely

We all have a lot more extra time right now and I hope that we all use it to protect our mental health, pick up a new hobby, work on our physical health, or pick up a new skill. Even if you can only focus on our mental health during this time, then you are doing great sweetie!

  10. I didn’t think I’d miss hugging people as much as I do

Please let me hug you, or literally anyone. I beg of you.

Share what you’ve learned about yourself or others during these “unprecedented times” down below! I’m so curious to hear what you’ve learned or picked up as a hobby during this time!
