Long Time, No Read

Well hello there dear readers, I’ve missed you. Like a whole bunch. It’s been an issue how much I’ve missed you. I know I have been away for a hot minute, but I assure you that I have been thinking about you. I’ll be honest with you, I have been busy yes, but I think I was lacking in inspiration... However, I’m back baby! I thought today’s post could be a little catch-up on what I’ve been up to lately, so let’s get started.

Note: I figured we’d break this up into sections to make it easier for me to write and also (hopefully) easier for you to follow along. Let me know if this format works for you.

Work

I’m not going to be super specific with what I do for privacy and safety reasons, but let me tell you, work has been kicking my booty. For those that may be new here, I work full-time for a nonprofit as a program manager of sorts. With planning the 2020 calendar and writing said 2020 budget for the first time, on top of work travel and other craziness, it was a stressful time to say the least.

Unfortunately, when I get stressed, I tend to retreat a bit if you will. Introverts, where you at? That shouldn’t be an excuse and I hope to better work on striking a balance and refocusing my priorities because this blog is a priority. If some of my personal life has to be sacrificed then so be it! Does anyone have any good tips for keeping the balance? Holla at your girl. Adulthood has been killing me lately. I’ve been making progress on it, making the right choices even when it’s hard, but sometimes I just want to be irresponsible, ya know?

Blog

I almost put this under work, but since I don’t do this for the money, I thought I’d keep them separate.

What kind of posts do you like seeing from me most? From what I hear, my advice posts are more popular, but if you would like me to do another kind of post, I am all ears always!

One of the reasons I have been away from writing on here for a bit is because I was working on growing my Instagram presence for awhile there. It is so hard to grow an Instagram let me tell you… Especially as a lifestyle blogger here in Raleigh. Some people take the easy way out and buy followers, but I don’t ever want to sell-out. I have met so many wonderful people through Instagram already and I love that I can share things there quicker and connect with you in a faster and more personal way sometimes. My goal before the end of the year is to hit 1,000 followers on Instagram and last I checked we finally hit over 900. If you would like to help me reach my goal and you would like to see more of what I am up to on the day-to-day or get even more content from me, then what are you waiting for? Follow me on Instagram already!

Personal

As for my personal life, this also had become a little overwhelming for a bit. For a minute there, I was getting invited to a lot of events and other social things so frequently that the introvert in me wasn’t getting the time I needed to recharge. Which sounds very first world problems, I know. Hear me out though, introverts are not necessarily terrified of being social, but being social does drain our energy unlike our extroverted friends. Recharging is so very important for me and my fellow introverts. I’m not one of those huge self-care advocates telling you to buy things or spend money in the name of self-care. However, I will tell you to take care of yourself in ways that maybe aren’t as glamorous such as staying in when you need to, do the thing that you’ve been putting off, having the difficult conversation, etc.

Another personal update: I’ve been single for a hot minute now, so I’ve been dating recently. Let me tell you, that is a real time and sometimes soul suck. The dating scene can get to be a little depressing, awkward, and uncomfortable. Every time I enter back into it, it’s a whole different ball game, with new players, new rules and customs, and new problems. Wish me luck y’all, thoughts and prayers.

Adventures

With so many events and whatnot that I am being invited to or seeking out things to do in the city, I think it will really help with my inspiration for future posts. I can’t wait to share more of what I am up to with you weekly.

I had also been doing a lot of traveling this summer, which I can’t wait to share with you. I did a lot of weekend trips this summer and I want to put together some a weekend travel posts for you all! Stay tuned!

Hope you’re having a lovely holiday season! Catch ya next week!
