Humor in Mistakes - My First Podcast Experience

I did a thing! I was invited onto a podcast! Can you even believe? I sure can’t. As some of my closes friends know, this was way out of my comfort zone! I’m not the best public speaker. Well actually I do alright, but it does give me major anxiety. However, just like uprooting my life and figuring it out along the way with you guys gave me anxiety, I did it anyway. There is nothing better than concurring your fears. It gives the greatest sense of accomplishment and confidence in yourself and your abilities.

The podcast that I was invited on is called Humor in Mistakes and it’s by two local comedians in the Triangle. Andrew Gleason and Donovan McNeil came up with the idea for this podcast together and it is basically what the name says, talking about mistakes the guests have made and finding the lessons and humor in them. I am very nervous for y’all to hear it because I get pretty deep in it. I hope you will all be very receptive and kind, which I have no doubt you will.

To be honest, I have no idea why they even contacted me… as you can tell, I am a perfect angel and have never made a mistake in my life! I hope you all know me well enough by now to know that is a joke. A hilarious one if I do say so myself. Since I am human and have made my fair share of mistakes, it was tough for me to think of what mistake to talk about. To aide me in this task, I listened to a few episodes of the podcast to get some inspiration, see how their podcast roughly runs, and to make sure I don’t talk about something someone has already talked about.

After a lot of stress, I decided to talk about my experiences with therapy and how I rejected the idea for a long time. We also got to chatting and talked about a lot more than that such as the blog and how I got started.

I was super nervous the first 30 minutes or so until I really got into it and it felt more like a conversation than like I was being recorded. I ended up really enjoying myself.

The guys are super great and funny. They’ve been working really hard on this podcast and their comedy, if you’re local you should check them out. Andrew can be found here and McNeil can be found here. I hope you guys will check them out and my podcast episode and let me know what you think down below. Should I keep my day job or start a podcast?! Ha!

What are your favorite podcasts? How do you think I did? Did you like the topic? Did I get too real?
